The Daily Plate: Lunch Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Okay, so I just counted how many food-related blogs I’m subscribed to and was a teensy bit embarrassed it almost totaled to 2 dozen.  I guess you can say I’m a little food obsessed.  Anyway, it got me wondering if all my food reading has had any influence in the way I cook or what I’ve been eating these past couple years.  It got me thinking about documenting what I eat daily, so with that, here’s today’s lunch, which I made in the office.

baked polenta with ponzu spinach and roasted pepper & artichoke tempanade

Hmm.  I foresee a new blog in the works.

As promised, here’s another installment of Sisters From Different Misters.  As I’m writing this, I’m realizing this may be the hottest pairing I’ll ever make.  Oh, how I love these two:

Giada De Laurentiis

and

actress Natalie Portman

I got home not too long ago from having dinner with the girls and James.  We spent much of the time rehashing Saturday night: a date which will live in infamy. No, wait.  That’s Pearl Harbor, sorry.  It was a night full of debauchery!  Yes, debauchery.  Loads and buckets full of insane, ridic debauchery.  I blame the DJ, who filled the air ’til the wee hours of the night with music and pumping all the right tracks. From “YMCA” for The Village People, who shockingly made a cameo:

To the “Three’s Company” theme song for the cast, who also made an appearance:

Even Axl Rose and Slash showed up making those GnR songs fitting!

There was silliness:

And seriousness, as in serious partying and a serious intervention to keep Chrissy Snow from OD’ing on cheese.

And there was a special kind of happiness and giddiness in just about everyone that night.

It was an amazing night to be alive and to be with friends.  Or to make new ones at that.  Like the guys at the gas station I came across before hitting up Betsy’s party, who rapped this Lil Wayne song all around me.

Much love to everyone and anyone who made me forget life’s stresses and reminded me how to have fun and laugh until my sides hurt. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I tried on some of the old clothes my ex still had and gave back to me tonight only to discover I am the victim of…..

a farmers tan!

a farmer's tan!

Would’ve been nicer if I was equally farmed armed, but no. It’s just the left.

Overalls, muscle shirts and one-arm farmer’s tans.  Trust, I’m bringing sexy back.
